Did you know that in most cases your service providers are able to directly bill your claim to Alberta Blue Cross or that you can submit your own claims through our member site? This means you can usually avoid paying out-of-pocket for the full amount of your claim.
Find a provider that direct bills
If you’re still submitting paper claim forms, you may want to ask your provider if they direct-bill Alberta Blue Cross. Today, over 97 per cent of claims are submitted directly to Alberta Blue Cross at the time of service from
- dental offices,
- ambulance providers,
- vision care providers
- massage therapists,
- podiatrists, and
To find a provider in your area who offers the convenience of direct billing, search the Alberta Blue Cross direct-bill provider directory. By choosing a provider who direct-bills with Alberta Blue Cross, you will only be required to pay the portion not covered under your benefit plan—and you can avoid having to submit a paper claim and wait for your reimbursement to be processed.
What if your provider doesn’t direct bill?
Don’t worry, you can still get immediate, hassle-free claim payments. Simply sign in to the Alberta Blue Cross member site to submit your health, dental, vision, drug or spending account claims and enjoy the convenience of fast and easy claim reimbursement.
Once you’re signed up for direct deposit, you’re ready to start submitting your claims online.
- Click Your claims and select Submit a claim from the drop-down menu.
- Choose the type of claim you’d like to submit and follow the steps to submit your claims.
What if your claim can’t be direct billed or claimed online?
While you can submit most of your claims online, there are still a few products and services that require paper submissions. If you have a claim that cannot be submitted online, log in to the member site at ab.bluecross.ca and select Forms & ID cards. You will then be able to download a form pre-populated with information such as your name, group or policy number and ID number. To submit your claim, please follow the directions found on the applicable form.
