Information for Alberta Blue Cross® plan members who have been evacuated due to the Northwest Territories wildfires
Updated: August 18, 2023
If you have an Alberta Blue Cross® personal plan or a plan through your employer, please contact our Customer Services team for support.
Due to the evacuations caused by the Northwest Territories wildfires, many residents may be seeking access to prescription drug products, prescription eyewear, dental devices or medical supplies and equipment to replace items that were misplaced or lost due to the wildfire and evacuation order.
Northwest Territory residents enrolled in the Extended Health Benefits for Seniors Program, Métis Health Benefits Program or Extended Health Benefits for Specified Disease Conditions Program may be eligible for replacement prescription drug products, prescription eyewear, dental devices or medical supplies and equipment as result of the evacuation.
- If support is required for prescription drug products, prescription eyewear, dental devices or medical supplies and equipment, the applicable provider must contact the Alberta Blue Cross Provider Relations contact centre at 1-877-272-7778 (toll-free) to facilitate coverage (prior to submitting a claim).
- Hours of operation for Alberta Blue Cross® are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday.
