Trip Cancellation and Interruption coverage notice
Due to the Air Canada strike, specific conditions apply to our Trip Cancellation and Interruption coverage.
What you're covered for
Your coverage applies only if both your travel bookings and Trip Cancellation and Interruption coverage were purchased before July 28, 2025. This date marks when the strike became publicly known. If this applies to you, you may be eligible for:
- Subsistence allowance, which includes accommodations in a commercial establishment, meals, essential phone calls, taxi transportation, childcare costs for dependent children travelling with you on the trip
- Reimbursement for pre-paid, non-refundable trip expenses
Review our travel insurance policy for complete terms and conditions. Not sure about your purchase dates? Check your booking confirmations and insurance documents.
If your flight is affected
Whether you're planning to fly or currently travelling, here's what you can do.
First steps
- Check aircanada.com for up-to-date information and available options during service disruptions.
- If your return flight is cancelled while you're travelling, contact Air Canada directly for rebooking or other options.
If Air Canada's options do not resolve your situation
- If you purchased your travel bookings and Trip Cancellation and Interruption coverage before July 28, 2025, you may be covered for strike-related disruptions. Learn more about what's covered during a strike or contact us at 1-855-445-5173.
- Contact the credit card company you used to purchase your flight or travel package. Some credit cards may offer protection.
- Contact your travel agency, if applicable.
Important to know
If the airline offers a travel credit for your cancelled flight, this is considered reimbursement and not eligible for a claim.
